Chinese New Year (or Spring Festival) |
Public holiday. First day of the lunar calendar (usually falls in February). Lasts for 3 days

Lantern Festival |
Falls on the 15th day of the 1st moon (around mid-Feb to mid-March). Must see : the famous lion dances that occur throughout this period. must visit : Yenshui, Luerhmen or Peikang, famous for their fireworks and crowds.

Guanyin's Birthday |
Falls in late March to late April. Special prayers to mark the birthday of the Goddess of Mercy.

Ghost Month |
Falls on the seventh lunar month, where the Chinese believes that ghosts from hell walk to earth. Taoist temples are swamped by devotees during this seasons.

National Day |
Falls on 10 October Must see : fireworks and light show in Taipei.
